Both movements originated with the reform movements of the second great awakening. The relationship between the two movements was born of necessity because the groups both suffered from oppression.

Women quickly entered into abolitionist spheres letting them to further calls for womens rights and full equality in american society.




What was the relationship between the abolitionist and womens rights movements. Womens rights movement emerges from the abolitionist movement she wrote while woman holds a subordinate relation in society to the other sex. Likewise the womens rights movement was based on the social oppression of women. There was a direct relationship between the abolitionist and women rights movement however it should be noted that this relationship was not a simple one.
